Requirements

  • Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Mass Communication, Advertising, Marketing Communications or related program.
  • Excellent writing and content creation skills with experience using AP Style.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience managing business and/or organization’s social media channels.
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization.
  • Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year, either hybrid or fully remote.
  • Available to work 40 hours/week during the summer; required in-office days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with additional days in office pending role requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner in the planning, writing and implementation of internal and external communications across a variety of channels including intranet, email, enewsletters, social media and others.
  • Help inform and engage Wellmark employees as well as external audiences of key initiatives.
  • Help measure the performance of the communications for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate and partner with various leaders and teams on how communications can help achieve their objective.
  • Develop and publish or distribute communications including social media posts, media pitches, news releases and internal articles to create awareness and engagement across various channels.
  • Research new ideas to improve communications.
  • Monitor earned and social media channels (Cision, Talkwalker, Sprout Social, local and industry news sites) for news and information that mentions or impacts Wellmark and the health care industry.
  • Interview subject matter experts and build content from their insights.
  • Collaborate with the corporate communications team to create holistic communications plans.
  • Analyze communications performance metrics and create insights-focused reports.
