About The Position

American Century Investments is seeking a Corporate Communications Intern to gain experience in corporate communications within the financial services industry. This internship offers formal training, continuous learning, and mentoring, with the opportunity to apply knowledge to real business projects. The program is designed for currently enrolled undergraduate students and runs for 10 weeks during the summer. The position is based in the Kansas City, MO office and requires a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Sophomore, Junior or Senior undergraduate student, currently enrolled full-time and Majoring in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
  • Strategic problem solver with excellent storytelling ability and oral communication skills
  • Strong writer familiar with AP Style writing guidelines
  • Ability to provide work samples that demonstrate your writing skills and creativity upon request

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of internal communications and external public relations and social media projects.
  • Write compelling business and feature content/copy for both internal (employee) and external (traditional media) consumption.
  • Align with company branding and messaging goals for internal projects, enabling employees to better understand the firm’s culture and how their work relates to the bigger picture. Content will be published on the employee-facing intranet site.
  • Assist with planning the editorial calendar.
  • Help with proofing and editing content.
  • Support coordinated communications strategies, initiatives, and programs for media relations and social media project work.
  • Help with the development and distribution of videos, photography, and other imagery.
  • Assist with tracking of both internal and external consumption of crafted content.
  • Provide additional perspective and creativity to help produce the best outcomes.
