The Corporate Communications Associate supports Cleveland Clinic’s enterprise-wide media and public relations strategy by developing and executing comprehensive communications and media plans for assigned institutes or business units. This role is responsible for crafting compelling press materials, pitching stories, and building strong relationships with local, national, and international media outlets. The Associate also provides strategic communications counsel to institute leaders and key stakeholders. Working under the guidance of a Senior Public & Media Relations Director, this role collaborates closely with Marketing, Legal, and clinical teams to strengthen Cleveland Clinic’s reputation and elevate key initiatives, innovations, programs, services, and institutional priorities. A caregiver in this position works hybrid Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, with onsite requirement one day per week. May require travel to Cleveland Clinic locations and media studios

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  • Minimum of two years experience in media relations, public relations, communications or related field with research, extensive independent writing, editing and proofreading of press releases, media alerts and articles.
  • An additional five years of progressively responsible experience may substitute for degree requirement.

  • Experience supporting executives or clinical leaders with communications needs
  • Familiarity with digital media trends and social platforms from a PR perspective

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and research press materials; news releases, media alerts, media advisories, pitches, pitch letters, content and press kits for local, national and international media.
  • Maintain patient/story database for assigned areas.
  • Assist in media training for physicians and other employees in preparation for media interviews.
  • Perform research for articles, releases, scripts, columns, content and media tips for distribution to media.
  • Interview Cleveland Clinic physicians and employees to obtain information for media and content opportunities.
  • Collect relevant information and independently writes and edits press releases, articles and content.
  • Follow up with media regarding pending releases as assigned.
  • Develop daily and long-term content for breaking news, daily news and trends for assigned areas.
  • Work collaboratively with media team members to coordinate across broadcast, print and digital media.
