Job Summary Develops and implements comprehensive media plans for key areas of the institution. Aligns internal stakeholders and media needs to promote new programs, facilities, services and other activities for assigned Institute or business units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree public relations, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years media relations, public relations or communications experience.
  • Within the scope of the job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • In some locations, ability to move up to 15 lbs.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, writes and researches press materials; news releases, media advisories, pitch letters and press kits for local, national, and international media.
  • Represents the Cleveland Clinic at community events and public relations activities.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key local, national and international media organizations to further the reputation and key priorities of each institute or business unit.
  • Identifies, nurtures and pitches key media organizations on Institute/business unit related topics and news.
  • Develops and maintains Marketing and Legal contacts.
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Legal on relevant projects or priorities.
  • Provides Media training to physicians, staff and others to prepare them for interviews and ensure integration of core Institute/business unit messages.
  • Coordinates news conferences and helps with other special events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
