About The Position

The Corporate Clinical Education Specialist-Behavioral Health (PRN) designs, delivers, and evaluates behavioral health education and competency programs that enable safe, evidence-based, and trauma-informed care for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and complex behavioral and medical comorbidities. Working on a per-diem, as-needed basis under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education, this role supports onboarding, continuing education, competency verification, and practice integration for behavioral interventions, crisis prevention, de-escalation, restraint regulatory requirements, post-event recovery practices, and the development and delivery of patient and family education. The role aligns all educational activity with applicable federal and state regulations, accrediting body standards, organizational policy, and the licensed scope of practice of the audience receiving the education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited program, OR doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an APA-accredited program, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-licensure clinical experience as a Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, including direct experience with patients presenting with behavioral, neurodevelopmental, traumatic brain injury, or complex psychiatric needs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience designing, delivering, or evaluating behavioral health education, training, or competency programs in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in adult learning, curriculum design, simulation, and competency assessment in hospital settings.
  • Proficiency in de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques; ability to train others.
  • Strong knowledge of patient rights and documentation standards; ability to operationalize regulatory requirements into practical workflows.
  • Ability to integrate trauma-informed frameworks and person-centered approaches across curricula and practice.
  • Collaborative leadership, data analysis, and change management skills; comfort partnering with behavior analysts and mental health professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess educational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in the use of learning management systems and other educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Current, unrestricted license as one of the following: (a) Licensed Psychologist issued by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or (b) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the Board of Social Worker Examiners.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from American Heart Association/American Red Cross required, must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from date of hire.
  • De-escalation training within 30 days after hire.

  • Develop and deliver behavioral health competency content that addresses behavioral crisis prevention and management, trauma-informed care, person-centered behavioral support, and the unique behavioral needs of patients with neurodevelopmental disorders and traumatic brain injury.
  • Design curricula that embed trauma-informed principles and promote staff resilience and patient safety.
  • Deliver education aligned with current federal and state regulatory standards for restraint use (42 CFR §482.13(e) Patient Rights), behavioral emergency documentation, debriefing, and continuous monitoring requirements.
  • Deliver simulation-based and skills-based training for behavioral high-risk scenarios, including behavioral escalation, the safe use of restraint, post-event recovery, and staff debriefing.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, behavior analysts (BCBA), psychiatry, social work, and allied therapy disciplines to integrate evidence-based behavioral interventions into interdisciplinary education, while respecting each discipline’s scope of practice.
  • Support the delivery of behavioral health education programs that integrate evidence-based practices and adult learning principles, working under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education.
  • Support interdisciplinary collaboration so behavioral health education aligns with the care needs of patients with neurodevelopmental disorders, traumatic brain injury, and complex behavioral comorbidities across the service lines covered.
  • Translate current behavioral health evidence and emerging practice trends into practical, role-specific education aligned with the licensed scope of practice of the audience.
  • Develop, review, and update patient and family education materials and programs that address behavioral health needs, trauma-informed principles, communication strategies, and home and community supports; ensure materials are culturally responsive, written at appropriate health literacy levels, and accessible to patients with cognitive, language, or sensory impairments.
  • Promote patient rights and communication accessibility through targeted education.
  • Support the delivery of patient and family education in partnership with the interdisciplinary care team, providing teach-back coaching, caregiver skill-building, and reinforcement of behavioral support strategies for the home or community setting.
  • Equip staff with strategies for family engagement and shared decision-making.
  • Implement training for post-crisis debriefs and recovery-oriented communication.
  • Ensures all activities adhere to healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Promotes a culture of patient safety which results in the identification and reduction of unsafe practices.
  • Align education programs with regulatory and accrediting bodies, and organizational policies.
  • Support policy development and updates for behavioral health and patient safety practices.
  • Use audit data and incident reports to drive improvements in documentation and safety outcomes.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains competency, as evidenced by completion of competency validation requirements.
  • Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments.
  • Participates in relevant workshops, seminars, and continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, healthcare regulations, and best practices.
  • Design continuing education pathways that meet licensure and certification requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training in de-escalation and workplace violence prevention.
  • Mentor staff in evidence-based practice and research utilization.
