About The Position

The 2027 Corporate Banking Summer Internship program is designed to introduce undergraduate students to the stimulating and challenging career of Corporate Banking at Scotiabank. Interns will be involved in numerous deals and projects, working with several senior group members concurrently. This role requires a strong work ethic, accommodation, and extremely high professional standards. The challenging nature of the work, combined with long hours, requires intense effort and dedication. Interns must be willing to work extended business hours, including weekends as required, to meet multiple work deadlines. As a Corporate Banking Summer Intern, you will support a range of sectors, including Power and Utilities, Industrials, Retail, Energy, Technology, Financial Institutions Group, Auto, Consumer and Retail, and others. In this role, you will support client coverage and deal origination efforts, while also conducting analysis of industry trends and market developments.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in process with expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2028
  • Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • A clearly defined interest in Corporate Banking
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
  • A strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
  • A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
  • Independent thinker and proven ability to make decisions

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Executing a range of corporate finance related tasks including financial analysis, building and analyzing advanced financial models, industry research, due diligence, etc.
  • Contributing to the development of marketing collateral and client-facing presentations, while collaborating closely with both Industry Coverage and Portfolio Management teams.
  • Maintaining/designing Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slides pertaining to corporate finance, strategic investment, and industry related trends for comparative analysis and presentation.
  • Interacting with other departments of the Bank and supporting transaction structuring and execution efforts.
  • Assisting in the analysis of lending opportunities, the preparation of credit presentations, and recommendations for internal approval.
  • Participating in a high-performance environment and contributing to an inclusive work environment.
