About The Position

BMO Capital Markets is a leading, full-service North American-based financial services provider. Corporate Banking is an integral part of BMO Capital Markets’ Investment and Corporate Banking group, responsible for the marketing, management, and monitoring of the Bank's corporate loan portfolio. It also supports credit requirements and cross-selling efforts for other businesses including derivatives, foreign exchange, cash management, and trade finance. Analysts will complete BMO Capital Markets Global Orientation and our Global Analyst and Associate Program (GAAP), which includes training in core corporate banking skills such as accounting, valuation and modeling, and pitch book development. Global trade finance is a key contributor within Global Transaction Banking, providing innovative solutions for corporate, institutional, and government clients for monetary activities related to commerce and international trade. This includes traditional trade finance, Supply Chain Finance, Documentary Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Demand Guarantees, and Documentary Collections. The role originates and structures corporate lending transactions that facilitate the financing and risk mitigation of export or import transactions and markets the Bank’s full capabilities to clients worldwide, while also providing ongoing management of the lending portfolio.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, graduating in Dec. 2026 or Spring 2027
  • Preferred minimum GPA of 3.4/4.0
  • Strong interest in finance and banking.
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Detail oriented.
  • Highly motivated, fast learning and able to work with limited supervision and adapt to frequent market, systems, and process changes.
  • Outgoing and personable; team player able to work effectively in small groups.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles of finance and the financial markets.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous banking or credit risk management experience preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship in the future

Responsibilities

  • Gathering information on client/prospects using internal systems (general information on a specific company or industry and for existing client; credit memos, volumes, revenue etc
  • Coordinating with research obtaining external information
  • Based on the research make recommendations about the best products we can offer
  • Preparing Decks for GT Managers sales pitches
  • Manage EMT (internal control system) process with entries and deletions of request
  • Preparing presentation materials and relationship profitability assessments, which involve liaising with other product and industry groups within BMO Capital Markets.
  • Performing other duties including industry and company-specific research, as well as ad hoc projects for senior professionals.
