About The Position

The Global Markets Corporate Banking group is an integral part of BMO CM’s Global Markets (“GM”) line of business and underwrites and recommends trading & loan credit facilities for a broad range of capital markets clients. The group is responsible for the portfolio management of BMO's risk exposure to a number of trading products and lending portfolios for GM clients, and includes reviewing and analyzing the client’s financial performance, establishing and maintaining limits, obtaining credit approvals, and continual monitoring of the portfolio. The group is organized under 5 key portfolios: Financial Institutions Group (including Global Banks and Insurance, and Fund Managers), Hedge Funds and Broker Dealers, Real Estate (including Mortgage Originators and Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS)), Securitization and Structured Margin Loans, and Commodities and Diversified Products. The products covered by the group include (but are not limited to): Derivatives, Securities Financing, Cash Products, Metals Solutions & Commodities, Margin Lending, and Securitized Products (across various asset classes).

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree (or currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with a graduation date of December 2026 or Spring 2027), with specific academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4 (out of 4.0).
  • Excellent analytical skills, and knowledgeable in the principles of finance, banking and the financial markets.
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a collaborative and demanding team environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills essential for presenting and writing reports.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to frequent market, systems, and process changes.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, with ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Results focused and detail orientated.
  • Ability to be creative, insightful, and resourceful in performance of duties.
  • Strong ability to attentively review, assess, and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship in the future.

  • Ability to build cash flow and other financial models.
  • Experience in corporate banking (including credit analysis and understanding) and credit risk management.

  • Formal credit training.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze financial and operating information relating to companies and industries, as well as current and prospective clients.
  • Assess financial soundness of counterparties including appropriate debt levels, debt service and repayment capabilities.
  • Perform credit risk analysis by analyzing transactions for structural strengths and weaknesses and determine product-specific risk and limit metrics (risk rating, LGD, etc).
  • Provide analytical findings (including credit risks and related mitigants) to Account Management team.
  • Lead AML/KYC processing and obtain any required pending documentation.
  • Assist with review and negotiation of relevant legal documentation.
  • Prepare concise, accurate and well-reasoned written credit applications and memoranda for both new and existing transactions for presentation to Credit.
  • Develop other presentations or ad-hoc portfolio updates for relevant credit partners or other key stakeholders.
  • Perform continuous monitoring of transactions and financial performance of the underlying client and its respective industry.
  • Monitor daily valuation and loan-to-value calculations for assigned portfolio(s), as well as exposure across different BMO clients and products.
  • Conduct timely annual reviews, financial covenants, and internal trigger monitoring.
  • Assist with updating relevant Financing Guidelines for assigned team.
  • Liaise with GM and other business partners, as well as Operational areas of the Bank, as required.
  • Collaborate on ad-hoc projects, as needed.
  • Continually train on needed systems, and learn about other resources available, to improve performance.
  • Utilize appropriate Artificial Intelligence tools and incorporate AI prompts in daily work.
  • Obtain expert knowledge of Bank policies and standards to ensure credit documentation and covered portfolio adheres to BMO’s policies and procedures.
  • Develop deeper industry knowledge specific to GM clients, products and initiatives to identify and understand client opportunities.
  • Participate in Client and Industry conferences, as applicable.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and relevant regulatory developments.
