About The Position

Chevron is seeking Corporate Affairs Interns for roles at various operating locations across the U.S., including Houston, TX and Washington, DC. This internship offers an opportunity to work within the Corporate Affairs department, which proactively manages social, political, and reputational risks and engages the workforce to advance the business. The department strengthens Chevron's strategic advocacy, communications, and social investments to build confidence in the company and industry. Interns may focus on Communications, which involves telling Chevron's story to key audiences to build understanding and confidence in the industry, or Policy and Government Affairs, which leads and influences policy development and advocacy with key public stakeholders at state, federal, and international government levels. Communications interns may work on projects related to corporate media relations, employee communications, executive communications, digital and social media engagement, community partnerships, events, and brand management. Policy and Government Affairs interns may work on projects related to analyzing policy/regulatory issues, supporting advocacy initiatives, and tracking key U.S. and foreign policy issues. Interns may also prepare responses to outside inquiries and attend briefings and hearings.

Requirements

  • Must be a rising junior, rising senior, or graduate student.
  • Must have or be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree aligned with the Corporate Affairs functional areas.
  • Ability to demonstrate The Chevron Way.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization required (no exceptions).

Nice To Haves

  • Awareness of the implications of the US political structure and environment in which the energy sector operates.
  • Experience in federal and/or international policy.
  • Understanding of legislative and regulatory processes within the United States at the state and federal levels.

Responsibilities

  • Create communications that engage external and internal audiences.
  • Work on projects related to corporate media relations, employee communications, executive communications, digital and social media engagement, community partnerships, events, and brand management.
  • Analyze policy/regulatory issues in countries where Chevron operates.
  • Provide support on advocacy initiatives on Chevron’s positions before government, trade, and other third-party organizations.
  • Track and report on key U.S. and foreign policy issues in specific regions.
  • Prepare responses to outside inquiries on Chevron's positions on issues.
  • Attend briefings and congressional hearings on foreign and domestic policy, legislative, or regulatory matters.
