A Corporate Accounting internship at Fidelity is designed for students interested in developing a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting key accounting processes and partnering with accounting professionals responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of a large and complex organization. This internship provides exposure to core accounting functions, including monthly close activities, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes. Interns will work with accounting data, assist in preparing and analyzing financial information, and help support projects that improve efficiency and enhance reporting accuracy. Through this experience, interns will develop an understanding of how accounting supports business operations, regulatory requirements, and strategic decision-making across Fidelity. This role provides broad exposure to traditional accounting disciplines and prepares students for future careers in corporate accounting, financial reporting, auditing, and related fields. Other opportunities may include: Defining and developing operational procedures for Accounting’s key process Leveraging technology, including automation tools, to streamline and automate manual accounting processes Support transformation initiatives within our investment accounting COE.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Accounting Information Systems, or related field
Strong interest in corporate accounting and financial reporting
Interest in financial system implementations, digital transformation efforts, and accounting modernization
Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate complex information, challenge existing processes, and develop practical recommendations
Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to explore new technologies, tools and ways of working
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated leadership experience through coursework, organizations, athletics, or work experience
Experience with Intermediate Accounting courses
Eagerness to learn and contribute within a collaborative team environment
Current college student (undergraduate or graduate) who will return to coursework following their summer internship
Availability for the entire 10-week program and ability to align with Fidelity's hybrid working mode

Responsibilities

Supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities
Assisting with preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules
Performing account reconciliations and researching variances
Analyzing financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
Supporting process improvement and documentation initiatives
Assisting with accounting projects related to systems, reporting, and operational efficiency
Collaborating with accounting professionals across multiple business areas
