Under general supervision, you perform sample processing, transportation, and storage activities while supporting departmental functions, projects, and programs through housekeeping and general operational tasks.

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience performing duties of a Core Technician/Geological Technician
  • Basic knowledge of using a computer
  • Capable of using a measuring tape
  • Ability to follow directions and coordinate work with others
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 75% of the time
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP, EWS, ORAS, and/or CAS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Core Technician I/Geology Technician; or minimum of 3 years of other similar/related experience

Responsibilities

  • Photograph core; split or saw core; weigh samples; manually handle and palletize material; load and unload core boxes; mark sampling intervals; and measure RQD, specific gravity, point load, and magnetic susceptibility.
  • Select geomechanical samples, wrap and mark them, capture data, and enter it into systems.
  • Purchase and track inventory and supplies; support administrative processes including project logging, barcoding, scanning, data entry, account administration, and service order/invoice management.
  • Support fleet, facilities, and asset maintenance programs; manage sample submittal and tracking; and support standard programs.
  • Coordinate Imago photography platforms, drill surveys, warehouse/storage, and transportation.
  • Assist with safety coordination, SOP creation, and administration of JRA/FLRA and safety meetings.
  • Perform general duties as required.
