About The Position

Barrick Mining is seeking saw operators for exploration projects in Quebec, at core shack facilities located in Rouyn-Noranda, QC. The core cutter is responsible for preparing drill core samples for geochemical analysis while adhering to quality control protocols and health and safety standards. This position is essential to the success of mineral exploration programs. This temporary position is approximately 1 year in duration, with possibility of extension based on available workload. Start date as soon as possible based on employee availability. Flexible schedule with possibility of overtime based on project needs. Competitive salary based on experience. Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in work
  • Good physical condition (repetitive lifting)
  • French speaking (English is an asset)
  • Valid driver's license (asset)
  • Experience in mineral exploration, core cutting, and/or working with oriented drill cores (an asset)
  • Good physical condition (repetitive lifting and standing)

Responsibilities

  • Act in a safe and responsible manner within and around the core shack facilities and participate in daily safety meetings
  • Cut drill core according to protocols established by geologists and core shack technicians
  • Operate and maintain core saw while respecting sample integrity and representativeness
  • Organize and store core according to established protocols
  • Label, package, and prepare samples for shipment to laboratory
  • Assist the core shack team in handling and moving core boxes.
  • Act as a safety champion and consistently apply the principles and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care
  • Assist geologists in managing drill core, preparation, measurements, photography, and other data acquisition
  • Manage core storage and maintain an organized core library and accurate records of all core handling activities
  • Coordinate core sampling, cutting operations, and quality control for sample shipment to laboratories
