About The Position

Lesley University is seeking a part-time Temporary Core Faculty of Dance and Movement Therapy to join their Expressive Therapies department. This role involves teaching courses in the Dance Movement Therapy specialization, which can be delivered face-to-face, hybrid, or online. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will contribute to accreditation efforts and student engagement activities such as recruitment, admissions, and advising. The Expressive Therapies department aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience for practice in various professional settings, including healthcare facilities, schools, community agencies, and private practices. The program's 60-credit courses are designed to meet the requirements for mental health counselor licensure in Massachusetts and prepare graduates for national and professional association certifications. The program emphasizes a connection between arts, theory, and practice in clinical training, and is recognized globally for its training of mental health service providers. Founded over 50 years ago, it was one of the first graduate programs of its kind and continues to advance the field of Expressive Therapies. The faculty consists of artist-practitioner-scholars who guide students in developing their identities as both artists and clinical mental health providers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Dance and Movement Therapy, Expressive Therapies, Counseling, or related field.
  • Dance/Movement Therapy credentials (BC-DMT).
  • Teaching experience in Dance and Movement Therapy, Expressive Therapies, or a related field, at the graduate level.
  • Two+ years of FTE clinical experience.
  • Record of scholarly activity.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or terminal degree.
  • Five+ years of clinical experience.
  • Ability to teach Dance Movement Therapy clinical courses, in addition to DMT specialization courses.
  • Experience with the ADTA approval process.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the Dance Movement Therapy specialization (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
  • Participate in accreditation efforts.
  • Engage in student recruitment and admissions.
  • Provide student advising.
  • Teach general counseling courses such as theories, psychopathology, assessments, vocational counseling, etc.
