About The Position

The Core Faculty member plays a pivotal role in CCHS's ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program at our Frayser Health Center. This full-time position combines direct clinical teaching and mentorship with service as a Resident Advisor, including active participation in designing and implementing residents' Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and the residency's didactic education. The residency mission is to educate and train generations of family physician leaders specializing in underserved care, in the context of distinctively Christian service. Trainees will be equipped to address health system disparities by providing integrated, radically compassionate, cross-cultural, high-quality care in Jesus's name. Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Family Medicine.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Tennessee, and DEA registration.
• Strong clinical and communication skills, and a commitment to medical education and patient care for the underserved.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in independent, full-spectrum family medicine practice preferred.
• Previous experience teaching and/or mentoring medical students or residents preferred.
• Comfortable providing care and teaching residents/staff in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and in a Christian clinic context upholding CCHS's values.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical supervision and teaching to residents during their rotations in family medicine, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Participate in professional development courses and workshops.
• Foster an environment conducive to learning, assisting residents in meeting all program requirements and milestones.
• Conduct regular, timely evaluations of residents' clinical skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
• Perform, supervise, and teach required medical procedures to residents.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and other faculty members to develop, review, and update the residency curriculum.
• Incorporate evidence-based medicine, current guidelines, and best practices into the educational curriculum.
• Organize and lead didactic sessions, workshops, case-based discussions, M&M, and journal club sessions for residents.
• Act as a mentor and advisor to residents, providing guidance on career development, academic pursuits, and personal growth.
• Assess residents' progress toward the six core competencies, and meet quarterly with residents to design and refine their Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
• Participate in scholarly activity — clinical research, quality improvement projects, case reports/journal articles, or conference presentations — and support resident involvement in the same.
• Work collaboratively with faculty, medical staff, and administrators, and serve on the Program Evaluation Committee and/or Clinical Competency Committee.
• Complete the Annual ACGME Faculty Survey.
