California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) seeks a core faculty member to teach and mentor doctoral students in the Somatic Psychology concentration within the Department of Research Psychology. The role supports an interdisciplinary, research-focused PhD program integrating embodied experience, psychological science, critical inquiry, and transformative scholarship. The concentration prepares scholar-practitioners to investigate embodied life, somatic processes, and their relationships to psychological, relational, cultural, and social experience. This is a research doctorate, not a clinical licensure-training program. Courses are delivered online through synchronous and asynchronous instruction, with required in-person academic gatherings. The full-time teaching expectation is 18 units or equivalent annually; part-time appointments are prorated and subject to approved workload allocations. The position may be remote or based at CIIS’s San Francisco campus. Faculty are expected to attend a fall in-person intensive or retreat lasting approximately four to five days, as scheduled, and spring commencement activities. Additional attendance requirements will be confirmed at appointment. The position may be filled at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank, up to Associate Professor, Step 9. Annual salary is up to $93,386 for a 1.0 FTE appointment; final salary and rank depend on qualifications, experience, and CIIS compensation guidelines. Duties are primarily performed in an office environment, typically Monday through Friday, with some weekends required for classes. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.
