About The Position

Anthropic is hiring a Copywriter, Developer to shape how its brand speaks to developers. The role focuses on creating an empathetic, direct, and genuinely useful voice that resonates with developers and reflects Anthropic’s mission to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial. The Copywriter will own brand-led developer writing that sits between Developer Relations’ technical content and pure marketing. This includes launch narratives, campaign work, social and paid copy, event materials, and developer-focused writing for enterprise contexts. The role partners closely with Dev Rel, co-owns the developer voice and tone guide with Comms, works with Claude Code and developer marketing leadership on strategic initiatives, and leads copy within a developer creative pod alongside a brand designer and program manager. The Head of Copy and Content serves as the craft lead.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience writing for developers or technical audiences, with a portfolio demonstrating both technical and brand work.
  • Experience shipping work developers shared, either in-house at a developer tools or infrastructure company or at an agency serving those clients.
  • A strong, specific point of view on how brands should communicate with developers, supported by examples.
  • Ability to read changelogs or documentation and assess what makes them trustworthy to developers.
  • Skill adapting expert material into accurate, sharp short-form copy and launch narratives.
  • Ability to work across technical content and brand writing.
  • Use of Claude or other AI models in personal writing practice, with the ability to describe that use concretely.
  • Enjoyment of embedding with technical teams and treating engineers and Dev Rel as creative partners.
  • Comfort co-owning standards with other teams while understanding the boundaries of each team’s role.
  • Interest in Anthropic’s mission to develop safe and beneficial AI.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly alongside a Dev Rel or engineering team rather than working through a brief.
  • Experience building or contributing to a voice and tone guide, style system, or writing templates that others successfully used.
  • Experience writing developer launch materials at a fast-moving product company where both accuracy and speed mattered.
  • Familiarity with the AI developer ecosystem, including coding tools, APIs, and how developers evaluate them.
  • Experience creating developer-credible work for enterprise or executive contexts.
  • A personal writing practice, newsletter, or public work demonstrating voice and judgment.
  • Experience working within brand campaign systems and adapting them for a skeptical or specialized audience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the developer-facing expression of brand campaigns, beginning with Keep Thinking, and adapt brand ideas for launches, social, and paid channels.
  • Build the developer voice and tone guide with Comms and Dev Rel, and develop templates and examples for the creative team.
  • Own brand-led developer assets between technical content and marketing, including event and campaign materials and writing for enterprise contexts.
  • Partner daily with Dev Rel as an embedded extension of the team, complementing rather than duplicating its technical content.
  • Develop launch narratives and short-form copy that translates expert technical material into accurate writing developers trust.
  • Lead copy for the developer creative pod in collaboration with brand design and program management.
  • Partner with Claude Code leadership and developer marketing leadership on strategic initiatives.
  • Present work and explain voice and craft decisions to stakeholders across Brand, Dev Rel, Comms, and marketing.
  • Manage feedback from technical reviewers and Comms to ensure published work is accurate and appropriate for external communication.
  • Track how developer-facing work performs and use findings to improve the voice, templates, and creative work.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Optional equity donation matching.
  • Generous vacation and parental leave.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Office space for collaborating with colleagues.
