About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented freelance Copy Editor to support our editorial team at a fast-paced, independent pharmaceutical marketing agency. The copy editor will support the Director of Editorial with various medical editing tasks. The ideal candidate has prior agency and pharmaceutical experience, works independently, and can flex their schedule when needed to support tight deadlines, including occasional work outside normal business hours. Freelance commitment: hours may vary based on project workload and deadlines.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1.5 years’ experience editing in a health care, medical, or pharmaceutical environment
• A developing knowledge of AMA style
• Comfort with diverse and constantly changing client styles
• Superb organizational skills
• An ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects across a collection of brand teams
• Fully invested team players, willing to take whatever strides are needed to support a colleague or brand at short notice
• Unflinching willingness to do all that it takes to meet an aggressive deadline
• A persistent detail sifter with an aptitude for checking facts
• Perpetual interest in challenging yourself across an exciting range of pharmaceutical brands

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of medical editing activities for multiple projects; working on content with guidance from SVP of Editorial Services, Managing Editor, Editorial Supervisor, or Senior Editor, while working cross-functionally.
• Help ensure production of high-quality copy, both factually and grammatically, with regard to scientific content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, consistency, and adherence to regulatory and internal guidelines, styles, and processes.
