About The Position

The Youth Hockey Coordinator at Ford Ice Center Antioch is responsible for assisting in the planning, organization, and promotion of in-house youth hockey programs. This role involves coordinating program logistics, managing on-ice programming, overseeing rental equipment, and communicating with participants and parents. The coordinator will also assist with program budgets, special events, and promotional activities, working to maximize participation, revenue, and player experience.

Requirements

  • Four-year (4) degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Management or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years of hockey playing experience, with knowledge of the sport's fundamentals, strategies and USA Hockey rules.
  • Must currently possess, or be able to obtain, the following certifications: USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (Level 1 minimum), USA Hockey Age Specific Modules, and SafeSport.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate high-quality youth programs.
  • Ability to work with children and young adults in a professional manner; upbeat and friendly personality with a passion to increase participation in the sport of hockey.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to work extended hours on event days.
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicant will be subject to a background investigation, including a criminal history check, previous employment verification and character references.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by FIC’s insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing, and promoting in-house youth hockey programs to maximize participation and development.
  • Coordinate the logistics of all in-house hockey leagues and programs.
  • Create strategies that drive revenue and enhance the player experience.
  • Assist with organizing, scheduling, and processing player registrations, collecting payments, creating teams, and finalizing game schedules.
  • Manage on-ice programming for internal camps, clinics and special events.
  • Collaborate to recruit, hire, train, and schedule part-time coaches for in-house youth leagues.
  • Assist in the evaluation of players for proper placement in various programs based on skill level.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the facility’s rental equipment, including inventory management, rental process, sanitation, and organization of storage rooms.
  • Manage written and verbal communication for youth leagues and programs, addressing participant and parent inquiries.
  • Serve as a liaison between program participants and USA Hockey, ensuring proper registration and adherence to guidelines.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with USA Hockey, local associations, and nearby rinks.
  • Assist with program budgets, working to maximize participation, revenue, and efficiency.
  • Assist in organizing and managing youth and adult hockey special events and tournaments.
  • Assist with the ongoing promotion of the Ford Ice Center and contribute to other organizational initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
