About The Position

Join the Receiving and Stores team at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, a 591-bed hospital affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College, where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality, most compassionate care to patients. This is a full-time day shift position 8:00am-4:00pm including rotating weekends and holidays, located at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. All roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One to two years related experience
  • Windows based computer literacy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function independently

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the activities related to maintaining supplies and equipment of assigned area(s) to ensure effective departmental operations, under general direction.
  • Greets patients, visitors and employees conducting oneself in a courteous manner.
  • Identifies oneself by name upon meeting patient and explains tasks you are about to perform.
  • Responds to inquiries politely and promptly.
  • Refers matters outside scope of own duties to appropriate others as necessary, keeping patients and others informed as needed.
  • Responds to emergency patient care situations, i.e., obtains necessary medical supplies for medical team, etc., in an expeditious manner.
  • Ensures that the emergency cart(s) are adequately supplied at all times.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment; requisitions repairs or replacements, removing malfunctioning equipment as necessary.
  • Coordinates availability, operable conditions and cleanliness of equipment.
  • Removes dirty equipment to Central Sterile or the equipment center, as necessary.
  • Locates missing equipment and returns to appropriate area.
