About The Position

NewYork-Presbyterian is a leading academic health care delivery system dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care. The Center for Community Health, opened in January 2021, is a state-of-the-art, multi-specialty ambulatory center focused on personalized outpatient care. This role is crucial in setting the stage for the patient experience by providing professional and efficient customer service, ensuring a smooth workflow, and accurately managing the patient registration process. The Access Service Representative will interview patients for demographic and financial data, input information into hospital systems, and perform clerical duties related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Minimum of one year of registrar related experience.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Superior customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, push/pull 10+ lbs. reaching, talking, hearing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a complex clinic setting and/or Patient Access Department.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patients and visitors with unparalleled customer service.
  • Maintain a smooth workflow within the assigned department registration areas.
  • Oversee the registration process to ensure patients are registered courteously, confidentially, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Interview patients or representatives for financial and demographic data.
  • Accurately input information into the Hospital’s ADT/EHR computer systems.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties directly related to the registration, admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients according to hospital policies and procedures.
