Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in special education, social sciences, psychology, rehabilitation, or a related field, or three years of equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of disabilities, assistive technology, and experience in higher education
  • Familiarity with Section 504, ADA (1990, Amended 2010), and relevant laws
  • Experience assessing disability documentation and determining accommodations
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, organization, and computer skills, including assistive technology applications
  • Passion for working with individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and Implement Student Accommodations and Support Services: Conduct interactive processes and review accommodation requests in compliance with ADA guidelines. Manage and ensure delivery of reasonable accommodations, including alternate formats (electronic, audio, braille, large-print). Provide academic support by monitoring student progress and offering guidance.
  • Lead Assistive Technology Services: Oversee the selection, upgrade, and implementation of assistive technology. Recommend purchases and provide training to students on technology use.
  • Foster Collaboration and Outreach: Partner with faculty, campus departments, and external organizations to enhance student support. Present information effectively through workshops or outreach events. Travel between campuses to maintain equitable access to services.
  • Maintain Operational Excellence and Compliance: Manage confidential student records in a secure, accessible system. Demonstrate independent problem-solving and teamwork in complex situations. Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental goals.
