About The Position

This position is located in the Behavioral Health Division which provides referrals, outreach and training for substance use and mental health conditions as well as homelessness and other needs affecting all St. Mary's county residents. The Older Adult Behavioral Health PASRR Specialist is a non-supervisory position that has as a primary focus to serve as a Behavioral Health consultant for Older Adults in the Southern regions of Maryland. The Older Adult Behavioral Health PASRR Specialist is responsible for the initial and ongoing training coordinated by the BHA's Office of Older Adults and Long-Term Services and Supports; assists with nursing facility diversion; serves as behavioral health consultant and liaison and assists in workforce development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing care coordination for individuals, preferably older adults.
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of community services for individuals with behavioral health, specifically older adults.
