About The Position

The Coordinator-Heart Transplant 1 RN functions in collaboration with the Coordinator-Transplant Two (2) RN. Applies the nursing process based on knowledge of cardiac disease and cardiac transplantation to case manage and coordinate all aspects of the national and international cardiac transplantation process for patients of all ages. Collaborates with Coordinator- Transplant Two (2) RN and Medical Director to coordinate the transplant interdisciplinary medical care delivery system. Serves as a liaison among physicians, patients, families, procurement agencies, and payors to ensure effective utilization of resources and quality improvement. Travels extensively for organ procurement on short notice. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum two years of critical care clinical experience in cardiology, cardiac surgery, or neonatology required.
  • California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • Able to write legibly.
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality.
  • Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to trouble shoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to perform technical patient care activities.
  • Able to communicate in English.
  • Able to relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in transplant or cardiac specialty preferred.
