About The Position

The Coordinator, Retention and Specialized Populations is responsible for providing comprehensive support and guidance to specific student groups to enhance their academic success, persistence, completion, and transfer. This position will require skill in developing and facilitating appropriate programming using a proactive and empathetic approach and a focus on early intervention, skills development, student support, and connections to campus resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in psychology, student affairs/higher education, human services or other appropriate area
  • Minimum of two years’ experience coordinating student activity programming for college age populations.
  • Organized and detail oriented with a focus on customer service, program outcomes, internal motivation and utilization of strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a demanding work environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain and control confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment and maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work in Microsoft office and Google suite

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in similar areas preferred.
  • previous work with program planning and support for underrepresented, high need student populations and / or neurodiverse students

Responsibilities

  • Implement retention based, co-curricular activities for assigned student populations and ensure timely coordination of marketing efforts, effective processing of purchasing / finance required forms, facilitation of student programming, and relevant data recording.
  • Evaluate and determine best resources for support to ensure programming is customized to the population’s unique needs based on current college student success related research. Programming may include semester series, summer institute model, or other variations based on student interest and college readiness needs.
  • Identify and implement annual program goals and assessment points and coordinate the collection, analysis, and data driven recommendations of the program outcomes.
  • Prepare quarterly reports on challenges and successes to inform departmental and institutional retention efforts, prioritizing areas for improvement by generating strategies to meet program objectives
  • Support assigned student populations with developing knowledge of college and community resources, with an emphasis on onboarding / orientation, first year student experience, financial literacy, and co-curricular experiences connected to career readiness and transfer preparation.
  • Provide direct assistance to students with introductions to a college process / departmental staff and follow up with students to ensure use of relevant services and campus offices.
  • Develop and facilitate training for college staff and faculty on topics that will improve overall service to assigned student populations based on information gathered from researched best practices, training, and direct experience with students.
  • Assist with departmental and division programs, projects and events as needed in coordination with supervisor including, but not limited to Commencement, Orientation, Spring Ahead, and general Student Life programming.
  • Maintain appropriate records of services provided.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
