About The Position

Balchem is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quality Laboratory Instrumentation & Method Coordinator with a background in analytical chemistry and microbiology to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, substantial experience in a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation, and a deep understanding of method development and validation processes. This role will oversee the expansion of expertise and methodologies used for QC testing at various Balchem sites. The successful candidate will support global quality initiatives, including standardizing methodologies across sites, assisting in procurement and validation of new equipment, and developing robust instrumentation systems to drive high-quality, efficient laboratory operations throughout the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quality Systems, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation (e.g., ICP, HPLC/UPLC, FTIR, titration systems, particle size, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of instrument validation and method development in regulated laboratory environments.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements related to instrumentation, validation, and technical competence
  • Excellent communication, training, and project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed (25-50%)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support instrument qualification, validation, and revalidation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) across global QC laboratories.
  • Provide onsite technical training to laboratory staff on instrument operation, troubleshooting, and analytical techniques as needed.
  • Serve as a technical lead for method development, optimization, and transfer between sites to ensure alignment and reproducibility.
  • Drive standardization of analytical methodologies and instrumentation platforms across global labs.
  • Support procurement, specification, and commissioning of laboratory equipment, including development of long-term capital expenditure (CapEx) plans.
  • Establish and maintain global best practices for instrument lifecycle management, calibration, and maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with site Quality leaders to support regulatory compliance, particularly as it relates to instrumentation and method performance.
  • Partner with Quality Systems and IT teams to ensure proper integration of instrumentation with laboratory data systems.
