Coordinator, People Business Partner

Saks Fifth Avenue
Onsite

About The Position

As the People Business Partner, Coordinator for Bergdorf Goodman Stores, you will serve as the operational backbone of the store People team while also acting as a direct People partner to the Selling Assistant and Customer Experience Coordinator populations across the selling organization. You will work closely with the Senior Manager, PBP and the broader People team to ensure HR processes are executed with accuracy, consistency, and the level of care the Bergdorf Goodman brand demands. This is a role with dual accountability, one foot in operations, one foot in partnership. You will manage the HR processes that keep the team running seamlessly, while simultaneously building direct, trusted relationships with Selling Assistants and Customer Experience Coordinators and serving as their first point of contact for people matters. Your ability to move fluidly between operational precision and human connection will define your impact in this role. Within an organization where excellence is not aspirational, it is expected, the Coordinator role is not simply administrative. It is the foundation upon which the People team’s credibility and impact are built.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in an HR, administrative, or operations support role.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential employee information and sensitive matters.
  • Clear and polished communication skills, both written and verbal, consistent with a luxury brand environment.
  • Comfort learning new systems and tools quickly.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach — someone who anticipates needs, follows through without being asked twice, and takes ownership of their work.
  • Genuine interest in HR and people operations, with a desire to grow within the People function.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in retail, luxury, hospitality, or a similarly fast-paced, client-facing environment.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP, or similar).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of coordination for HR operational activity across the Bergdorf Goodman store People team, ensuring seamless execution across all people processes.
  • Manage end-to-end onboarding logistics for new hires across both store locations, ensuring a consistent, brand-appropriate welcome experience from offer acceptance through first day.
  • Process employee transactions accurately and in a timely manner, including new hires, terminations, transfers, job changes, and leave of absence initiations in the HRIS system.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready employee records, ensuring compliance with company policy, legal requirements, and data privacy standards.
  • Support offboarding processes, including scheduling exit interviews, processing separation paperwork, and ensuring timely system updates.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable first point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, and general people processes, triaging and routing inquiries to the appropriate team member or CoE as needed.
  • Handle all employee interactions with the discretion, warmth, and professionalism reflective of the Bergdorf Goodman standard.
  • Support the People team in communicating HR programs, policy updates, and people initiatives to associates and managers across both stores.
  • Assist in coordinating employee recognition programs and people events that contribute to a positive and engaged store culture.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date workforce data across HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity that supports reliable reporting and informed people decisions.
  • Prepare and distribute regular and ad hoc HR reports including headcount, turnover, and compliance tracking for the Senior Manager, PBP and broader People team.
  • Track and monitor key HR metrics and deadlines — including performance review completion, I-9 compliance, and open role status — proactively flagging gaps to the team.
  • Support audit preparation and compliance documentation, ensuring the team is consistently operating within legal and company requirements.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to coordinate interviews, communicate with candidates, and support a hiring process that reflects the brand’s standards and moves with appropriate urgency.
  • Manage job posting logistics and applicant tracking system updates in coordination with the recruiting team.
  • Support new hire paperwork, background check coordination, and pre-employment processes, ensuring a smooth and timely transition from offer to start.
  • Serve as the dedicated People partner for the Selling Assistant and Customer Experience Coordinator populations across both the Women’s and Men’s stores — building direct, trusted relationships with associates and their managers.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Selling Assistants and Customer Experience Coordinators navigating workplace questions, HR processes, or people concerns — providing guidance that is timely, consistent, and reflective of the brand’s standards.
  • Support managers of these populations in addressing day-to-day people matters, including onboarding, performance conversations, scheduling concerns, and associate engagement.
  • Partner with the Manager, PBP and Generalist to escalate and appropriately route more complex ER matters that arise within these populations.
  • Maintain a visible and approachable presence with Selling Assistants and Customer Experience Coordinators, serving as a reliable and trusted resource within the store environment.
