About The Position

The Coordinator of Teaching and Learning plans, implements, coordinates and oversees programs that provide structures and supports to assure the effective implementation of the District’s instructional framework and support principals in their school based leadership of instruction. To accomplish these tasks, the coordinator works closely with the principals, the community, school staff, and district administration.

Requirements

  • A valid State of Oregon license appropriate for the position, admin preferred
  • A Master’s Degree with preferred emphasis in Education
  • The ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
  • The ability to learn new automated systems as they are brought online by the District
  • The ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team
  • Successful teaching experience
  • Experience leading professional development and supporting adult learners
  • Five years of experience working in a school environment with a minimum of three years working in a leadership capacity with curriculum, instruction and assessment, administration experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to apply current instructional technology applications that support the diverse learning needs of students
  • Thorough knowledge of the Common Core State Standards, English Language Proficiency Standards, instructional best practices and balanced assessment
  • The ability to express complex ideas with clarity and precision both orally and in writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • The ability to handle multiple deadlines and tasks simultaneously
  • Effective organizational planning and project management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Admin license preferred
  • Master's Degree with preferred emphasis in Education
  • Administration experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Promote educational equity by ensuring all students have access to the resources, opportunities, and support needed for success
  • Support Cabinet Members, the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent in achieving department and district goals
  • Manage operational and fiscal resources, including program budgets and grants
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs
  • Coordinate curriculum adoption processes and support standards-based instruction
  • Design and deliver differentiated professional development for teachers and administrators
  • Support principals and teacher leaders in instructional leadership and continuous improvement efforts
  • Facilitate committees, stakeholder collaboration, and cross-department partnerships
  • Develop and oversee project management plans, summer programs, and special initiatives
  • Research and implement best practices and innovative strategies to improve student outcomes
  • Supervise licensed, classified, or non-represented staff- if applicable
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor state academic standards and promote instructional alignment from prekindergarten through graduation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and experts to support integrated curriculum and diverse learners
  • Prepare, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate district and school-based programs and services
