About The Position

Under the Director of Youth Formation, this role plans and evaluates the Rock 45 and Family Initiation Sacrament programs. The Coordinator collaborates with the team, Director of Youth Ministry, and Pastor to achieve unity of vision at all levels of youth formation. Key responsibilities include recruiting and training team members, developing youth leadership, promoting youth involvement, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Responsible for continual development and smooth operation of the youth and young adult programs in a mature, efficient and professional manner; maintaining confidentiality and continuous professional development through study, self-examination, and use of supervision.
  • Good knowledge of child development and methods.
  • Willingness to stay current in trends of and catechesis of youth.
  • Computer literacy preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work within collaborative ministry with members of parish staff of a growing parish.
  • Ability to anticipate solutions to problems.
  • Ability to keep accurate records on youth.
  • Dexterity in organizing programs.
  • Must be in good health and energetic to participate in youth activities.
  • Complete and maintain Diocesan Safe Environment Training as required by the Diocese.
  • Abide by Diocesan policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License and own personal transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Catechetics or other related field or a Youth Minister Certificate preferred.
  • Three years' experience in ministry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates all facets of 4th - 5th grade catechesis (ROCK45) by assessing needs of the parish; forming and assembling the core team for regular planning sessions and special meetings as necessary; scheduling; providing for the needs of catechists; providing parent education sessions as necessary; attending youth functions as necessary; implementing evaluation process of programs; acting as an advocate for youth as appropriate; coordinating and attending day retreats as needed.
  • In conjunction with the Family Initiation Ministry Leader and Director of Youth Ministry, plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates all facets of a sacrament preparation process for youth in Christian Initiation by scheduling classes and events.
  • Cultivates youth leadership pathways and leadership development by involvement of teen ministers involvement in Rock 45 Core Team; and mentorship.
  • Assists Formation Team in the planning and execution of Vacation Bible School or similar summer programming.
  • Maintains professional competency by being aware of current trends in children’s ministry; continuing education; attending meetings, workshops and in-service as provided.
  • Participates as a member of the parish staff by actively participating in the mutual support of all staff members; meets regularly with the Director of Youth Ministry; and attends staff meetings.
