About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness in Boca Raton, FL. This position reports through the Department of Campus Recreation and is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive fitness and wellness program. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness, the Coordinator of Fitness administers, organizes, and promotes a Fitness program serving over 3,000 participants annually.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration and oversight of all fitness and wellness programs, including Personal Training, Group Fitness, Small Group Training, Instructional Programs, and Special Events.
  • Manage administrative duties related to personal training, fitness consultations, specialty courses, group exercise, small group training, and other program offerings.
  • Plan and implement specialized fitness offerings, including outreach events, incentive programs, educational tabling, and collaborative events.
  • Develop and publish group fitness class schedules and format descriptions, including modified schedules for holidays, finals, and intersessions.
  • Track and analyze group fitness class counts, completed personal training sessions, personal training mentor/mentee hours, and program goals/data.
  • Assign personal training clients.
  • Teach nationally accredited and in-house developed training courses to prepare students to become Personal Trainers and/or Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate approximately 2 Fitness Managers, 15 Certified Personal Trainers, and 30 Certified Group Fitness Instructors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff contact lists and assist with coordination of group fitness subs.
  • Organize and lead fitness staff trainings and maintain regular communication with staff.
  • Evaluate the performance of fitness employees on a semester basis and provide feedback.
  • Provide staff with ongoing mentorship through regular check-ins and one-on-one meetings.
  • Track fitness equipment inventory and project equipment replacement needs annually.
  • Provide support and input regarding custodial services and/or equipment maintenance via work order requests.
  • Ensure staff are informed of current safety and risk management procedures in the departmental Emergency Action Plan and review with staff annually.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and review of surveys for programs and events.
  • Assist with development of departmental strategic plan and annual assessment materials.
  • Assist with preparing monthly and annual reports related to Key Performance Indicators.
  • Assist with preparation of the department’s budget through fitness staffing and expense projections.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for fitness programming as needed.
  • Attend meetings with other Campus Recreation stakeholders.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with Academic Departments of Exercise Science, Colleges of Social Work, Nursing, Medicine, and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
