About The Position

This part-time, 0.925 FTE position functions as a professional liaison between Fort Lewis College and local and regional schools to support Dual Enrollment and Educator Pathways. This position supports the FLC Strategic Plan priority regarding community connections, including Dual Enrollment and meeting community priorities. It also supports state mandates requiring Dual Enrollment be available to all high school students equitably. Dual Enrollment work focuses on building and expanding equity-centered, early college pathways for high school students—particularly first-generation and low-income youth—interested in exploring early college opportunities. Strategic next steps for this role include increasing the numbers of dual enrollment students who enroll at FLC and expanding demographic and academic representation to include more students who could be first-generation college students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
  • At least three years of experience teaching in P-12 educational settings
  • At least three years of experience in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience in program leadership, working effectively with a variety of stakeholders in multiple contexts
  • Demonstrated organizational and program management skills, including systems and process improvement
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of technology or database platforms
  • Considerable working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with 14+ school districts, especially those serving rural, Indigenous, and underrepresented student populations.
  • Navigate delicate inter-institutional and intra-institutional dynamics regarding course requests, high school interests, faculty workload, academic department needs, and faculty teaching loads, both internally (among faculty and between departments) and externally with districts.
  • Represent FLC in collaborative education initiatives (e.g., Southwest Colorado Education Collaborative and other local district partners).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Animas High School and FLC's Majors and Programs.
  • Support recruitment efforts into Fort Lewis College academic programs from high school through post-baccalaureate.
  • Communicate regularly with high school counselors and administrators regarding site-based course requests, and coordinate internally between FLC departments to schedule those courses.
  • Serve as lead point of contact for potential and current dual enrollment students and families.
  • Conduct regular travel to schools for admissions, advising, and registration.
  • Coordinate with counselors, market FLC, run DE admissions meetings and seminars in high schools, and provide information to high school counselors for effective placement to support student success.
  • Provide FLC instructors and professors with information needed to support appropriate accommodations and successful completion of dual enrollment students in their courses.
  • Provide FLC instructors who teach courses at partner high schools with information about teaching in a high school setting, including logistics and student safety.
  • Coordinate high school student enrollment in eligible FLC courses across all three schools: Education, Arts and Sciences, and Katz School of Business.
  • Design and lead dual enrollment orientation sessions each term to support student familiarity with college practices and expectations.
  • Advise dual enrollment students on course selection, academic success, and transition strategies for future college matriculation.
  • Provide focused success coaching support for DE students with a GPA under 3.0.
  • Manage registration and course changes for all dual enrollment students, in coordination with school districts and counselors.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment data and communication records across departments including Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and the Health Office.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment statistics, including credits, grades, and matriculation data.
  • Manage and refine the admissions process, including supporting and guiding applications and managing the administrative side of admitting students in Slate.
  • Monitor policy changes from CDHE and CDE, ensuring compliance with state dual enrollment legislation and institutional agreements.
  • Design new systems for tracking success outcomes and expanding wraparound supports—academic, social, and emotional—for high school students accessing college-level content.
  • Support program development and implementation of educational pathways at Fort Lewis College for special populations, such as apprenticeship and teacher cadet programs.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts and facilitate communication with district administrators to inform ongoing program development.
  • Design and lead orientation sessions each term to support student familiarity with college practices and expectations.
  • Coordinate academic and logistical program planning in collaboration with Teacher Education faculty.
  • Design and manage systems for tracking success outcomes and expanding wraparound supports—academic, social, and emotional—for special populations including apprenticeship and teacher cadet program students.
  • Provide advising and coaching to support academic success for special populations such as apprenticeship and teacher cadet program students.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
