About The Position

This position will provide project participants with counseling services. Upward Bound is a federally funded program that is currently funded through August 31, 2027. Continued funding is contingent upon a competitive application process.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Student Development, Counseling, Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum three years’ experience working with disadvantaged students or students in a high school-aged educational setting.
  • Experience required with assisting students with college admission processes and career awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with identifying and actively recruiting 82 eligible high school students to participate in the Project on an annual basis
  • Design counseling curriculum for the six-week summer residential program
  • Hire, train, and supervise Resident Assistants and Counseling Assistants for the summer program
  • Assist Project Director/Academic Coordinator in designing and implementing a positive residential experience for the students during the six-week program
  • Assist students with personal, career, and social awareness
  • Assist with identifying speakers or facilitators and assist with planning activities for six on-campus Saturday Academies during the academic year
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of services provided to project participants, including close monitoring of project database
  • Assist with the completion of the Annual Performance Report
  • Assist students with college admission processes, including scholarship and financial assistance
  • Contribute to the grant writing process to secure program funding
  • Be actively involved in university activities/committees which directly impact/reflect the interests of program participants
  • Perform other duties as assigned
