About The Position

This position provides leadership in developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the District's special education program in an assigned area of responsibility. The Coordinator II, Special Education assists schools and teachers in developing quality programs for special education pupils and coordinates the development of individualized education programs for students at assigned schools, non-public agencies, and non-public schools. The role also provides direct support relating to services to school sites and district personnel, conducts staff development training, and evaluates assigned staff. Additionally, the position is responsible for completing necessary state, SELPA/district, and department reports.

Requirements

  • California administrative services credential
  • California credential authorizing service to special education pupils in area of classroom instruction, designated instruction and services (DIS), or school psychology
  • Knowledge, training and experience in developing special education curriculum
  • Ability to plan and conduct meetings for teachers and parents
  • Ability to develop individual programs for exceptional students
  • Ability to coordinate efforts of home, school and community relative to needs of exceptional students
  • Valid California teaching or other related services credential

  • Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
  • Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Assembly Bill (AB2534) and Senate Bill (SB848), mandates all certificated and classified applicants provide a complete and accurate list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, and/or state special school (Local Educational Agencies (LEA)) where the applicant has previously worked, regardless of the length of service, including full-time, part-time and substitute employment.
  • If multiple LEAs are within the same district, only the district information is required.
  • Failure to disclose any previous educational employment and/or providing false information in a job application may result in the disqualification of your application.
  • Any candidates contacting, directly or indirectly, any member of the Board of Education and/or administration with the intention of influencing their or another candidates selection to any administrative position shall be disqualified without recourse.

Responsibilities
