About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting functions related to construction projects. The role involves managing project budgets, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures. The Construction Project Accountant will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and timely financial information.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction project accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Experience with public sector or school district accounting.
Knowledge of construction contracts and terminology.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain construction project accounting records.
Process project-related invoices, purchase orders, and change orders.
Reconcile project accounts and bank statements.
Assist in budget preparation and monitoring for construction projects.
Prepare financial reports and analyses for project managers and senior management.
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and auditors.
Support the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
