About The Position

Saint Louis University (SLU), a prestigious Catholic university founded in 1818, is seeking a Coordinator for its University Honors Program. This role is responsible for the co-curricular elements of the first-year experience, coordinating programming with the Honors Learning Community, and supervising/advising two Honors student groups. The coordinator will organize logistics for Honors events, provide support for advising, admissions, and experiential learning, and handle office administrative tasks. There is also a possibility to teach in the Honors Program and for the University Core.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One (1) year of related experience
  • Knowledge of higher education policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of student development theory and its applications to honors students
  • Knowledge of and personal experience with honors education
  • Ability to coordinate complex programs and projects through strong organization, scheduling, prioritization, problem-solving, and delegation skills within the context of an academic organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive collaborative relationships across academic departments and layers of an organization that drives projects to completion.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of integrity while professionally handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Developing and producing co-curricular experiences for first-year students that support the four Foundations in Honors, including Honors Orientation.
  • Developing an out-of-class wellness program each semester for all Honors students.
  • Producing the annual Alpha Sigma Nu induction ceremony and Honors Senior Celebration.
  • Collaborating with and coordinating programming for the Honors Learning Community in partnership with Housing and Residence Life.
  • Overseeing the PATH Mentors, a peer mentoring and ambassadorial group.
  • Tracking participation in PATH and Honors Program events.
  • Providing monthly professional and personal development opportunities for mentors and meeting with them one-on-one each semester.
  • Supporting the programming logistics of the Honors Student Association.
  • Offering support at admissions events, group advising sessions, and informational programs.
  • Aiding in implementing the experiential learning curriculum in the Honors Program.
  • Reviewing applications for admission, undergraduate research funds, or other Honors opportunities.
  • Managing vital administration functions including purchase reconciliations, supply and food ordering, room reservations, and website maintenance.
  • Teaching opportunities in the Honors curriculum and Honors sections of Core courses.
