About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Graduate Funding Operations, the Coordinator, Graduate & Postdoctoral Success supports graduate and postdoctoral success by coordinating equitable and inclusive scholarship initiatives, enhancing engagement programs, and strengthening award administration. The incumbent collaborates with university partners to identify and remove EDI barriers, develops new funding opportunities for underrepresented groups, and provides tailored support to students and postdoctoral scholars applying for internal and external awards. The Coordinator, Graduate & Post Doctoral Success also oversees mentorship, leadership, and internship programs; coordinates professional development initiatives; and works closely with faculty to support individualized development planning. Additionally, the incumbent facilitates scholarship processes, policies, and adjudication activities, ensures compliance with complex funding regulations, liaises with external agencies, and conducts ongoing data analysis to inform best practices and promote award excellence.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
  • Experience in student service and/or engagement, mentoring, and success roles, in a post-secondary environment.
  • Familiarity and/or experience building onboard programming and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of University governance, administrative guidelines, as well as external regulations, policies and procedures that impact Universities.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office 365 (including MS Word and Excel) and Student Information Systems.
  • Proven ability to deal with sensitive and complex situations, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the Brock graduate student experience, programs, services, scholarships and professional development.
  • Promotes and embodies inclusivity and respect within the workplace and community.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport, credibility, and effective working relationships.
  • Customer-focused, with the ability to respond promptly, resolve issues, and maintain professionalism and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Understand EDI requirements of external scholarship granting agencies and work with graduate students and Postdoctoral Scholars to enhance applications.
  • Research external scholarships opportunities and conduct personalized meetings with graduate students and Postdoctoral Scholars to connect them with opportunities that align with their academic /career pathway profile.
  • Maintain general knowledge of all funding agencies applicable to Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars.
  • Administer applications for external research awards, including assessing transcripts, preparing application files for adjudicators and posting awards to student financial accounts.
  • Develop a postdoctoral support program that provides enhanced opportunities, consistent practices and engaging experiences for postdoctoral fellows.
  • Oversee Internship programs cycles, from application through implementation.
  • Ensure graduate students and postdoctoral scholars have access to campus-wide, relevant professional development programming.
  • Support the design and implementation of graduate and postdoctoral professional development mentorship models.
  • Collect feedback from graduate students postdoctoral scholars to ensure programming is effective and adjust when appropriate.
  • Develop, recommend, and support the implementation of policies, procedures, and processes to enhance scholarship awarding, support enrollment objectives, and improve University operations.
  • Liaise with external agencies regarding external scholarships and awards.
  • Administer internal award programs, including confirming student eligibility and interpreting complex rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform on-going environmental scans to monitor, track, and investigate institutional comparators to identify best practices and trends in graduate and postdoctoral award excellence.
