About The Position

Works with the Church to guide young people (generally grades 6-8) and their families to become active disciples of Christ, accomplished through a process of evangelization that includes pastoral, catechetical formation, and sacrament preparation (High School Confirmation). Provides primary leadership for the design and implementation of parish ministry to its youth. Along with formation staff, assists in forming parents to teach the Faith to their children, in keeping with the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

  • 1-3 Years Experience- Required
  • Ability to sit and perform computer work for lengthy periods of time.
  • Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.
  • Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties.
  • Data entry via computer keyboard requires repetitive and frequent hand and wrist movements.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
  • Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in theology or Equivalent Preferred
  • 4-7 Years Experience- Preferred

  • Demonstrated history of good judgement.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to use various computer software programs; strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Word and Excel.

  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church including an in-depth familiarity with its structures, functions, and institutions
  • Knowledge of the application of the Catechumenal model (RCIA) model as the central method of teaching the Catholic faith
  • Skill in public speaking, strategic planning, and in writing and editing various documents
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks, complete tasks per established guidelines, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time-management techniques.
  • Ability to effectively manage group dynamics as well as interpersonal relationships to yield positive outcomes.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develops sound evangelization and catechetical curriculums in evangelization, catechesis, doctrine (grades 6-8), preparation for those who will receive sacraments (High School Confirmation), and assisting the 9-12 Coordinator as needed. Fostering moral life and prayer that have been approved by the Diocese. Leads the planning, development, and implementation of catechetical programs for parish youth.
  • Ensures (with assistance of Formation Administrator) necessary administrative requirements are followed, including but not limited to parental consent, safe environment, activity reporting and analysis, budget management.
  • Develops, promotes, and maintains marketing to evangelize the youth.
  • Plans, develops, and implements a schedule of social and service activities for the youth of the parish to develop community.
  • Invites, trains, motivates, evaluates, and promotes faith formation of small group leaders, youth, and adult leaders.
  • Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
  • Responsible for recruiting and supervising volunteers
  • Attend weekly Formation department meetings.
