About The Position

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for an Event and Communication Coordinator. The primary purpose of this position is to develop Foundation Events and Communications by coordinating all event details and donor communications. Duties include: Develops, coordinates, organizes, and executes all aspects of Foundation events, fundraising campaigns, and other communication details to meet strategic goals for all Foundation events through digital print, email, social media and other communication channels. Develops comprehensive strategy and marketing plan to “brand” all Foundation events and campaigns (fundraising and social). Coordinate with key stakeholders as necessary to develop overall event plans and calendar timeline for all phases of event details while maintaining effectiveness to costs and delivery of commitments for successful completion of all event objectives. Align with Sponsorship Coordinator to track and report event budgets, revenue, expenses, and return-on-investment metrics. Cultivating volunteers for events, and post-event recognition. Coordinate with Foundation bookkeeping staff to ensure reconciliation all fundraising event deposits (onsite, offsite, credit cards, online ticket purchasing, and other merchant services). Seek out community events and networking opportunities, and establish a Foundation presence; including but not limited to: all Foundation events (fundraising and social). College events and other community events as needed. Works closely with Foundation committees (Development & Finance Committees). Serve on College committees and task forces as assigned. Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Business Administration or related field.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in sales, marketing, and event planning.
  • Superlative communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to make people feel good about having contacted the Foundation and College.
  • Inviting, enthusiastic, always positive and affirming of others.
  • Broad knowledge of private fundraising techniques and IRS regulations.
  • Ability to handle challenging and at times, emotionally charged situations.
  • Competency in word processing (Microsoft Word), data management systems, and accounting software (e.g. Quick Books) required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective discretion in handling confidential information and sensitive materials.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and good judgment in matters of Foundation policy and procedures.
  • Follows through on completion of tasks.
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in spreadsheet, donor management software, and some desktop publishing experience preferred.
  • Experience and/or training in accounting and budgeting processes.
