About The Position

The Emergency Medical Services System and Emergency Management Coordinator oversees EMS System compliance and emergency management activities under the direction of EMS Leadership. This role supports preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts, while coordinating patient care during transport, medical communications, and system education, policies, and plans in alignment with facility standards and regulatory requirements. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison with regional hospitals, EMS personnel, physicians, emergency management partners, and regulatory agencies, including the Illinois Department of Public Health, to ensure effective system operations and coordinated emergency response.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services
  • Experience in roles where key skills of critical thinking, project management, problem solving, collaboration, relationship building and public speaking are needed.
  • Current Illinois Paramedic License OR Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Lead Instructor License – must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) – must be obtained within 12 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Completion of FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 90 days of hire
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years of experience in Emergency Management
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator (CHECC) Certification
