Under general supervision, this position coordinates, assigns, directs, and performs tasks in the development and implementation of cultural arts programs and activities of assigned areas, including the day-to-day management and care of assigned collections, exhibits, records, material assets, and other City-owned, loaned, or borrowed property. The Culture & Arts Education Coordinator is responsible for curating exhibit design and evaluating their visual presentation at the Carver Museum, Genealogy and Cultural Center. The position will work with artists, staff, and volunteers on the installation of exhibits, ensuring they meet the City of Austin's mission, accessibility, and best-practice requirements. This position also oversees the day-to-day care of all exhibitions and includes the upkeep and maintenance of all aspects of exhibits. It will also submit for approval and monitor the budget for exhibits and the care of all gallery spaces.
