About The Position

Perform cosmetology lab and student salon/spa set-up and breakdown, cleaning, inventory and equipment management, and ordering, ensure compliance with the Texas Department for Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) standards, and manage lab assistants and student workers. Oversee and coordinate the use of cosmetology supplies and equipment in support of cosmetology classes and salon/spa services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations, scheduling, and coordination in the cosmetology lab rooms and student salon/spa areas.
  • Collaborate with faculty and leadership to ensure compliance with TDLR standards and guidelines.
  • Assist instructors with setup and breakdown of demonstrations and student activities.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of supplies and tools; keep an inventory of current stock and tools; order items as requested; receive stock and supplies; and properly store all items.
  • Maintain a record of supplies used each semester to aid in determining current/future needs.
  • Organize labs, student salon/spa, and storage areas for efficiency.
  • Put supplies and equipment away after use.
  • Enforce sanitation and safety procedures per TDLR standards and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist in implementing proper safety procedures and standards; identify and report potential safety hazards.
  • Dispose of materials according to proper guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with health regulations.
  • Maintain equipment in the lab and student salon/spa areas.
  • Report equipment problems and prepare appropriate requisitions for equipment repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Follow up on completed repairs to ensure equipment is operating satisfactorily.
  • Assist with inspections and audits.
  • Maintain all necessary records and logs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all duties to maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures, and core values.
