About The Position

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is seeking a Coordinator, Construction Services experienced in contract oversight and management, partnership building, and supporting safe, efficient project delivery. This role supports infrastructure projects for DCC's Client-Partner, delivering solutions that contribute to national defence. The Coordinator manages and administers low-complexity construction, professional services, and service contracts, ensuring compliance with requirements. They will engage in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors and Client-Partners regarding quality, contract interpretation, scope changes, and progress claims. The role also involves addressing contract management risks within delegated authority and adhering to service line requirements. The position offers an opportunity to work on infrastructure projects at 4 Wing, a Royal Canadian Air Force base in Cold Lake, Alberta, supporting airfields, ramps, hangars, and other facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum: college diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with approximately two years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
  • Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction

  • Use applicable computer software and operating systems
  • Interpret drawings and specifications
  • Apply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements
  • Coordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problems
  • Monitor and control schedules
  • Liaise with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on contract-related problems and risks)
  • Maintain site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports), as required
  • Assess, negotiate and issue contract change orders
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders
  • Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations
  • Ensure health and safety, industrial security and environmental compliance
  • Carry out financial control for contracts
  • Coordinate consultant construction review and third-party testing
  • Manage contract risk
  • Other duties as assigned
