About The Position

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is seeking a Coordinator, Construction Services experienced in contract oversight and management, partnership building, and supporting safe, efficient project delivery. This role supports infrastructure projects for their Client-Partner under the Major Capital Program. The Coordinator manages and administers moderate- to high-complexity construction, professional services, and service contracts during construction to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Responsibilities include daily discussions and negotiations with contractors, consultants, and Client-Partners regarding quality, contract interpretation, scope changes, and progress claims. The incumbent addresses contract management risks, complies with service line requirements, and integrates activities with site teams and other service lines. This role may also involve leading and managing human resources responsibilities for a team. The ideal candidate will bring construction expertise, relationship-building skills, and contract management know-how to ensure quality and keep projects on schedule.

Requirements

  • College diploma in engineering, applied science or related field with six years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
  • Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction
  • Construction, products and materials knowledge
  • Project, contract and risk management principles knowledge
  • Health and safety management knowledge
  • Applicable computer software and operating systems
  • Ability to apply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Demonstrated leadership and human resources management skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer contracts to ensure work done under them complies with contractual requirements and quality specifications
  • Coordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problems
  • Monitor and control schedules
  • Liaise with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on project-related problems and risks, negotiate and issue change orders)
  • Maintain site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports)
  • Liaise with other service lines and site teams, as required
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders
  • Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations
  • Manage contract risk
  • May perform human resources functions (e.g. coach, supervise, mentor, plan and allocate resources, and manage performance)
  • Manage contract financials
  • Coordinate consultant construction review and third-party quality assurance testing
  • Ensure health and safety, industrial security and environmental compliance
  • Other duties as assigned
