About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Educator is responsible for the creation, revision and the on-going development of a comprehensive training program to include instructional and assessment material, procedures, and learning resources. Provides instruction to new and existing employees on new and revised procedures. Ensures quality of training. Provides remediation to learners as needed; utilizes feedback and ongoing coaching to facilitate successful completion of the education program. Functions as a subject matter expert. Assists in designing and improving workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLS exam within the first year of employment.
  • Alternative bachelor's degrees are acceptable with successful completion of ASCP or AMT CLS certification exam prior to employment.
  • A bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science, medical technology, biological science or chemistry is required with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and includes one of the following options: A: 16 credits of chemistry, 16 credits of pertinent biology, and 3 credits of math. B: 25 credits of pertinent biology, 8 credits of chemistry, and 3 credits of math. C: 25 credits of chemistry, 8 credits of pertinent biology, and 3 credits of math.
  • Options B and C would require additional coursework to be eligible for ASCP certification.
  • An associate's degree as a Clinical Laboratory Technician with the successful completion of the ASCP or AMT Board of Certification CLT exam or obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Alternative associate degrees are acceptable with successful completion of ASCP or AMT CLT Certification exam prior to employment.
  • 2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in leadership or instructor/education role.
  • Sufficient academic, technical, and clinical skills and knowledge to evaluate, troubleshoot, research, and resolve day-to-day problems that arise or special projects as assigned by the laboratory management.
