About The Position

Maintain accounting records, prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with federal, state, county and district accounting regulations. Prepare, check and reconcile check batches in accordance with established procedures. Process and invoice for payment, checking for appropriate coding and funding. Manage all cash accounts, which includes cash-handling monitoring, compliance, and site training; deposit management; accounts receivable; journal entries; and tax credit. Count district cash daily, and deposit district cash in conjunction with district rules. Maintain a variety of files, accounts, data and records. Assist in the preparation of a variety of statistical, financial, and tax related reports and submissions for specific programs, the district, county, and state. Handle verbal and written correspondence and dissemination of information. Receive, count, process and account for monies from various funds. Maintain and update the Finance Standard Operating Procedures and required forms in accordance with the Arizona State USFR compliance questionnaire. Provide ongoing district/employee training of the Finance Standard Operating Procedures. Coordinate school level accounting, auxiliary and club accounts, school and athletics budgets. Coordinate district travel reimbursements, prepare fuel reporting, and oversee district credit card usage and reconciliations in accordance with district policy and state regulations. Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed by the district. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to all policies, regulations, and rules in accordance with district policy, state statutes and accounting principles. Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three or more years progressively responsible office experience, to include the application of accounting practices and procedures; or, any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, provide and present information to employees and others by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.
  • Ability to be careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources.

  • Ability to perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork and navigate complex administrative processes.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date on information relevant to the position and use this information and individual judgment in collaboration with others to determine whether processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in record keeping.
  • Demonstrated experience in using business software programs, such as Excel, and accounting systems.
