About The Position

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is seeking a Coordinator, Carbon Projects to join a team dedicated to protecting vital natural areas and the species they support. NCC is a leading private land conservation organization in Canada, focused on protecting important natural areas and the species within them. Since 1962, NCC has conserved and restored over 20 million hectares across Canada through collaborative, evidence-based approaches. NCC acknowledges its work on lands traditionally managed by Indigenous Peoples and is committed to advancing Reconciliation and working respectfully with Indigenous Peoples. The Coordinator, Carbon Projects will support NCC's role as a major proponent of carbon projects, managing monitoring, reporting, and verification for large-scale Improved Forest Management carbon projects. This role requires strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, involving project and administrative support, contractor management, technical analysis, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in environmental science, forestry, sustainable business, or environmental studies.
  • 1-3 years of experience in sustainability, carbon project development, environmental consulting, conservation, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Comfort analyzing and transforming data with Microsoft Excel, experience with large datasets, and the ability to apply general data analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training or certificate in forest carbon project development, management, and/or modeling.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • GIS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for carbon projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant verifications by coordinating contractors (project developers, validation/verification bodies, technical contractors), tracking project spend, and managing invoicing and reporting.
  • Support the on-time delivery of carbon project commitments, including community engagement and other monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Offer technical project support, including quality assurance/quality control of quantitative outputs, review of technical reports, and ensuring alignment with NCC's values and carbon project development approach.
  • Assist the Accelerator team with NCC's carbon sales portfolio, including administrative tasks such as risk screening coordination, invoicing, record keeping, data management, sales metrics, and reporting.
