About The Position

Bucks County Community College seeks a collaborative, student-centered professional to lead and advance the Academic Coaching program within the Academic Success Center. This role supports the College’s commitment to access, equity, and student success by providing coordinated, high-impact coaching services that promote persistence, progression, and academic skill development. The Coordinator works in close partnership with faculty, advising, tutoring, and student support services to ensure a proactive, integrated approach to supporting students—particularly those on academic alert, warning, or probation. The Coordinator provides program leadership, staff supervision, and direct student support, ensuring that coaching services are consistent, evidence-based, and aligned with institutional priorities related to retention and academic excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in academic coaching, tutoring, advising, or student success services, including experience supporting developmental education, first-generation students, or academic alert/retention initiatives.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading student staff or part-time employees.
  • Demonstrated understanding of academic coaching models, student development theory, and case management practices.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with student success technologies, data tracking, and case management systems.
  • Applicants must be permitted to legally work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director and Executive Director to design, implement, integrate, and assess a comprehensive academic coaching program aligned with institutional student success goals.
  • Develop and maintain standardized coaching frameworks, session models, documentation processes, and ethical practice standards to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through utilization, retention, and student success data, and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time peer and professional academic coaches.
  • Provide ongoing professional development, facilitate staff meetings, and support coaching staff through case consultation and performance feedback.
  • Ensure consistent application of coaching standards, ethical guidelines, and student privacy practices.
  • Provide direct academic coaching to students as needed, supporting goal setting, time management, metacognitive strategies, study skills, and academic planning.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust coaching strategies to support persistence and academic success.
  • Collaborate with faculty, advisors, intervention teams, and student support services to coordinate holistic student interventions.
  • Partner with instructional departments to align coaching initiatives with course outcomes and developmental education goals.
  • Coordinate with tutoring, peer mentoring, and retention programs to streamline referral and follow-up processes.
  • Participate in campus committees and student success initiatives as assigned.
  • Facilitate Summer Bridge and other transition or onboarding programs.
