About The Position

This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM. Funding is available through 08/31/2027, with continuance subject to the department's operational needs. The University of New Mexico has branch colleges to serve the citizens of New Mexico and provide high-quality education. TRIO/Upward Bound is a federally funded program focused on providing opportunities for first-generation and low-income students, and students with disabilities to succeed in their pre-college performance and higher education pursuits. TRIO/Upward Bound at UNM-Gallup campus is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Education Support Coordinator to join a team dedicated to creating pathways for college preparation and access for secondary school students. This position is essential for service delivery, student support, and overall program success. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director in providing administrative and academic support, coordinating and marketing academic programming, and assisting with program events, trips, workshops, and other outreach activities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Demonstrated experience in assisting at-risk students and families
  • Demonstrated experience interviewing students experiencing personal and academic issues
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and organizing education programs, meetings, and/or special events
  • Demonstrated administrative support experience, to include purchasing, database management, record keeping and fiscal support

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of the Upward Bound academic year and summer program component
  • Develop promotional and marketing materials, educational information, newsletters and brochures
  • Develops and maintains records and databases on student and program activities, materials, equipment and supplies; maintains documentation of students’ progress as well as alumni tracking
  • Oversees participant application process; communicates with prospective participants, parents, school counselors and other stakeholders
  • Monitors and reconciles program fiscal services, including purchasing activities and student stipends
  • Collaborate with Outreach Advisors to identify non-academic needs of program participants
  • Connects participants to appropriate resources, tracks use of coordinated services, and provides specific referral services
  • Develops and facilitates workshops on a variety of topics
