This classification will plan, coordinate, and teach fine arts programs and special events for City residents. Areas of assignment may include visual arts, music, dance, or ceramics. Essential Functions: Plans, coordinates, and conducts dance and movement programs for adults aged 55 and older, with instruction designed to support mobility, balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, and overall wellness through age-appropriate dance practices. Assesses participant needs and adapts instruction to accommodate varying levels of physical ability, endurance, range of motion, and health considerations common to older adult populations. Teaches classes using safe, inclusive, and accessible practices; provides modifications, seated options, low-impact alternatives, and progressive movement instruction to support participant success and reduce risk of injury. Applies knowledge of senior wellness and physical fitness as it relates to dance and movement, including safe warm-up and cool-down practices, pacing, fall prevention awareness, and alignment with the needs of older adult participants. Plans, coordinates, and conducts fine arts programs including classes, workshops, camps, exhibits, and other special events; creates programs and curriculum Establishes and distributes schedules; processes participant registrations; conducts auditions; teaches classes; monitors programs and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation. Performs general customer service and administrative duties: receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding programs, policies and/or personnel; attends meetings Assists customers; answers the telephone; prepares reports and correspondence; enters computer data, etc. Creates promotional materials to increase public awareness of and participation in fine arts programming; designs graphics; prepares news releases, flyers, brochures, etc. Ensures the maintenance and preparation of classrooms and facilities; opens/closes facilities and classrooms; inspects facilities and classrooms; sets up and tears down chairs, tables, equipment and supplies; ensures employee and customer compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Develops cooperative partnerships with area schools, community organizations, and other arts organizations for the enhancement and support of fine arts programming; and makes presentations to various groups as requested. Coordinates recitals, performances and other special events: creates order of program; manages productions, such as choreography, lighting and music cues; invites guest performers and artists; develops collateral materials. Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including submission forms, contracts, billing statements, class/event registrations, class schedules; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including submission forms, performance evaluations, exhibition proposals, invoices, class/event registrations, class attendance reports; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records. Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains pottery wheel, kiln, hydrometer and other equipment; operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions. Communicates with supervisor, other employees, patrons, artists, musicians, students, vendors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Performs other related duties as required.
