About The Position

The Chicago Steakhouse Line Cook is responsible for operating assigned stations at Gold Strike Casino. The role involves following recipes, preparing and expediting food service, coordinating production according to par levels, and maintaining proper food handling, health, safety, and sanitation standards. The cook may work across sauté, sauce, grill, cold seafood, pastry, and appetizer stations, and assist in pantry and preparation areas. This is an hourly, full-time position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience as a Cook in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.
• Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Working knowledge of weights, measures, and various cooking techniques.
• Knowledge of knives, knife skills, standard kitchen equipment and supplies, including toasters, refrigerators, coolers, slicers, juicers and beverage machines, Cryovac machines, and small wares.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all business contacts.
• Ability to perform frequent standing and bending and constant walking, reaching, balancing, and grasping in a food preparation area.
• Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work amid possible exposure to pipe, cigar, and/or cigarette smoke.

Responsibilities

• Operate the assigned station during normal service.
• Follow recipes accordingly.
• Use proper food handling techniques and follow health and safety standards.
• Notify the Room Chef or Sous Chef of problems and how they were corrected.
• Expedite and coordinate service, producing according to par levels.
• Assist in the pantry and preparation area.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of sauce stations and recipes.
• Work sauté, sauce, grill, cold seafood, pastry, and appetizer stations.
• Perform other job-related duties as requested.
