About The Position

NatureBridge is seeking a full-time Cook for its Marin Headlands campus. This position involves preparing and serving meals in a cafeteria-style kitchen for up to 240 K-12 students and adult chaperones. The Cook will direct Kitchen Assistants in meal preparation, service, and cleanup, ensuring adherence to public health standards in a beautiful location on Rodeo Beach within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This role requires weekend availability and cannot be performed remotely.

Requirements

• Two years of related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Skills in all aspects of food preparation for large groups.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and time limits.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions as well as work independently.
• ServSafe Food Handler certification required.
• Willingness to obtain ServSafe Food Manager certification, paid for by NatureBridge.
• Employment eligibility is contingent on successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in culinary arts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook buffet-style meals for up to 240 people.
• Direct kitchen assistants and other support staff during their shift.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Receive and stock deliveries of food and supplies.
• Label and store foods in a manner that meets NPS public health standards.
• Establish and maintain respectful, supportive and compassionate relationships with staff, volunteers and participants.
• Collaborate with Evening Cook on areas of need for upcoming meals.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
